You Owe Me

Even
After
All this time
The Sun never says to the Earth,

"You owe me."

Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the whole sky.

Write about a challenging relationship.  Use a metaphor as your first line.

Try these:   "She's just a one way street." "He's more unpredictable than the weather."  "It would be costly for her to pay attention."  "He'll always be in her debt because she has a credit card with no limit."

Take these metaphorical beginnings to describe two characters in conflict.  Once you have defined each with one line, take them to the beach for a sunset picnic.

Create a simple situation that would not mean anything out of context.  She spills her wine on his favorite shirt.  He lets a squirrel eat from his hand and she scrams, "EEK. Rabies.".

Have that unimportant event begin their unresolvable conflict.  Remember, the crisis between them began way before the immediate situation.

See where your writing takes you.
