On July 4th - Celebrate the American Bald Eagle

The Continental Congress asked Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson
to develop a seal for America in 1782.

Benjamin Franklin declared a turkey should become the national bird. He claimed, “the turkey remains a bird of courage who would attack any British grenadier who should presume to invade the farm yard with a red coat on.”

Congress, voted against a turkey, They adopted the eagle design on June 20, 1782.

The idea for the bald eagle included an olive branch with arrows in the talons to symbolize war and peace.

The bald eagle appeared on official documents, currency, flags, public buildings, and other government-related items.

The bald eagle as an American icon symbolizes the strength and freedom
of the United States of America.

Celebrate Our Proud Eagle on the Fourth of July.
