Write the Reflections

Imagine stopping at a coastal town after an exhausting drive. You wander the streets to relax. Peeping into windows acquaints you with the spirit of the area.

Turning a corner you notice a fortune teller encased in glass. A voice begs you to come closer and deposit a dollar for mysteries to reveal themselves.

When reaching into your wallet you cannot find a single bill. The machine doesn't take change but you feel a hand on your back and garbled voice.

You turn but no one stands behind or near. You feel a need to run but a breeze draws you to the next window . . .

Reflections continue to direct your journey.

As you walk on, an elderly man asks the time. His eyes flash and a memory floods your mind.

You enter the bead shop to get change to return for the fortune teller's advice.

A scent of lilac and cedar wafts. Music drifts from a bookstore with an old-time tune you can't quite place.  You hum and keep walking.

You begin to feel teased by another era as a Victorian mansion rises on a hill. Signs prohibit a walk up the driveway.

Canada geese break formation and land on the lawn.

You seem to have lost the car keys . . .

Where will the next reflections take you?

Creative Write:  Develop a story from these photographs of reflections.  Or, take four or five photos of window reflections and let them lead your writing into mysteries.
