During my morning run, I'm into the breeze as I feel the need to escape from the negativity of media and politics. I wish for nature's surprises.
I turn a corner . . .
"Come for a ride," a peregrine falcon coaxes. I look up to hear a swish of wings.
"Yes." I close my eyes and wait.
Soon, I'm lifted and feathered on the peregrine's back.
A mock battle occurs in front of us.
"Just the kids at play," Momma peregrine says.
We rise and race the wind in a flight of freedom.

Applause arises
from the sea.
