Celebrate with a Mother's Day Write

"I should sell my tongue and buy a thousand ears when that one steps near and begins to speak."
- Rumi

In addition to one's birth mother, many individuals provide mothering influences over a lifetime. Consider those who have provided nurture, discipline, and affection.

Write about how they affected aspects of your development.

Write three examples of "words of wisdom" that created a foundation for your value system.

Delve into three admonishments that made you reconsider your future actions.

Examine three nurturing experiences.

Return to memories and weave them into what you offer in your mothering abilities.  How have you translated and transferred the skills you gained from your influences?

  1. Here's a blast from the past. Happy Mother's Day to someone who, out of the kindness of your heart acted as my surrogate mom for several years. My name is Janine Detterman Stillman and I want to take this opportunity to thank you so much for your support and influence during some hard times in my life. You and your dogs and the times we spent together were a welcome relief from the "institution." On Mother's day, when my kids' friends are contacting me to thank me for my role in their lives, I wanted to pay it forward and say a long overdue thank you to you for everything that you did for me. Happy Belated Mother's Day Penny!!
