Early Symbolic Communication

Jiahu symbols above, marked on tortoise shells, dated around 6000 B.C. The first writing systems of the early Bronze Age developed over time.

What fun to speculate how early humans communicated with symbols.

Consider the markings above. A group of fishermen have returned from their adventures. They design symbols on rocks and shells as they build a fire for their catches.

"Sun's out. Let's eat. Table's ready."

Let your imagination wander back in time. During your visit to a group of early humans what would you discover in communication patterns?
