Life Story Writing

What does a writer do when faced with a question the size of a life? It is an invitation to reveal something. Deepen the question, magnify the promise and see what flows.

Your life is a creation myth. Begin with the initial question of your life. How did your parents meet. Describe the circumstances of your birth from stories told to you. Add details of sensory imagery.

Make a promise in a story's beginning. Something amazing is in that room, down the hall, in that confrontation. Open the door and fulfill that promise.
