Write into Optimism

An optimist is a person who sees a green light
everywhere, while a pessimist sees only the red
stop light. The truly wise person is colorblind.
               - Albert Schweitzer

What does it mean to see the positive side of life's events? Dr. Schweitzer has a perspective that everyone can expand on a daily basis.

See your weeds as wildflowers.

For a day, accentuate the positive. See the negatives as a challenge. Develop  ways to go around, over or through them.

If you begin the day with a negative event, consider what benefit it has. What did you learn as your patience and creative thoughts moved beyond the situation or obstacle into a possibility?

Sometimes you fall down and discover. Something else occurs and . . .

Elbert Hubbard writes, "Optimism is a heart-stimulant; the digitalis of failure."

Launch into the write way of moving past frustrations. Write till frowns turn upside down.

  1. This is an important point in all aspects of life, including writing. After being diagnosed with cancer this year, I see even smaller things in everyday life through a positive lens. I've always been a "glass half-full" person, but to be tripped up by the unexpected can result in a "full glass." Now to keep those thoughts in mind with my writing...
