How to Approach Beginnings

What is the new horizon in you that wants to be seen? - John  O' Donohue

John O'Donohue believed that once we arrive into this world, we enter this ancient sequence.  All our beginnings happen within this continuity.

Why do beginnings frighten us?  Do they seem like lonely journeys into the unknown?  Goethe says that once the commitment is made, destiny conspires with us to support and realize it.

We have no control until after birth. Then we use curiosity, mimicry and action to make our choice. Our lives fill with continuous acts of beginning . . .

Energy enlivens when a beginning launches. Imagine backwards.  Do you recall a first beginning?  Did you reject or accept something?

Creative Write: What shines as a new horizon for you? Reflect on it from past beginnings.

Describe an early experience with as much detail as possible from your child's mind and in reflection as an adult.

Fling firsts as fast as you can on the page: childhood trip, date, kiss, circus, dance, bicycle, job, accomplishment.

Describe all of the above from someone else's point of view: parents, siblings, best friend.

Don't forget to include sights, sounds, scents and flavors.

How will you approach your next beginning?
