April's Pink Moon

Tonight on April 11, celebrate a full pink moon in Libra. Expect to see the moon at its peak at 11:08 on the west coast.

The moon itself will not look pink. Pink-colored wildflowers, called ground phlox, give the moon its name. They bloom this time each spring. Just imagine the moon as a garden of pink.

The pink moon phenomenon is also called the sprouting grass moon, the egg moon, and the fish moon.

Other full moon names like June's strawberry moon and September's corn moon derive from seasonal occurrences Native Americans observed in nature with the moon at its fullest.

Shining an aura of mystery and magic, a full moon connects to our wisdom and intuition.
