A Search for Truth

The three wise monkeys reveal a Japanese maxim, embodying the principle, "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil." Mizaru, who sees no evil, covers his eyes: Kikazaru, who hears no evil, covers his ears; and Iwazaru, who speaks no evil, covers his mouth.

A fourth monkey might help us today.

How do we search for "truth" and pursue beyond the evils?

The attempt to define “truth” includes more abstract words. Webster’s gets into, “the body of real things, events, and facts – actuality.”  Also: a transcendent fundamental or spiritual realitya judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true.

With the current onslaught of mixed-message media and political segmentation, finding what’s real and true creates a challenge. We can seek knowledge yet experience reveals the way we access truth with a bit of compassion.

Fundamentally, if a reference name calls, blames, degrades, or dehumanizes, move on. Language or actions that promote anger and social division, fear, and hate also steer us away from facts.

Avoid "mental fisticuffs" with friends and family. Salute their view with positivity and walk away from negative interactions.

Search for positivity and possibility by researching individuals and sources that make things happen in creative and productive ways. Find the initial data with facts and confirmation.

Take time to observe the creations around you from your cellphone to a garage door opening. It took brilliance and dedication to a purpose and goal to produce our daily conveniences.

Notice how you progress through daily routines with the accomplishments of others assisting.

Find amazements in the natural world to keep inspiration flowing.

Henry Miller wrote, "Everyman, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths. There is no mystery about the origin of things. We are all part of creation, all kings, all poets, all musicians; we have only to open up, to discover what is already there."

Where do we discover "Truth"?  It is an individual choice that requires effort. Focus on the questions. Take time for critical thinking, exploring, and analyzing.

Accept change as life's Truth. When deciding what to believe, it helps to go with the flow, like waves to shore.

Where will you seek Truth today?
