Write to Sparkle a Party

The flair of Mardi Gras colors the March air. Celebrated in Rio de Janeiro and New Orleans, it is known as Karneval in Germany. Italians celebrate, Martedi Grasso.  Celebrants in Mexico party at their Martes de Carnaval.

Have you wanted to write a story based on a party in history, a book, movie, or elsewhere?

Consider The Great Gatsby in the summer of 1922 and parties thrown by mysterious Jay Gatsby. The guest list featured jazz musicians, Broadway stars and film producers. A full orchestra played in the extravaganza.

In The Warrior Feast from the Prose Edda by Snorri Sturluson, dead Viking warriors, who lived in Valhalla, fought during the days. They partied at a banquet during the evenings. A magical boar supplied the food. Roasted each night, it gained rebirth during the day. Valkyrie handmaidens served meals as mead flowed from the udders of a goat on the building's roof.

Czar Nicholas and Alexander's 1903 Winter Palace focused on parties in the 1900s.  Balls flavored the nights.

Truman Capote hosted a Black and White Ball at the Plaza hotel in New York in November 1966. The 500 guests came from the worlds of showbiz, politics and finance. They ranged from Frank Sinatra to J Edgar Hoover.

Don't forget the Mad Tea Party in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The party ends in a surreal way for a novel not written under the influence of mind-altering drugs.
Don't forget to add elements of Animal House by Director John Landis.

Mix and Match. Write your type of party!
