Have you ever wanted to just laugh out loud on and on? During our craziness of maudlin media and the polarizing effects of politics, why not stage a laughathon?
Did you know that five-year-olds laugh 400-500 times a day? Grown-ups laugh only 15 times a day on average, says Leigh Anne Jasheway who believes laughter is the best medicine.
Jasheway is concerned that people are, "peppered daily by angry talk radio and news media reminding us to feel angry or to panic." She claims, "levity is the opposite of gravity."
We need to express ourselves in laughter.

Studies reveal that laughter produces basic mammalian benefits of reducing tension snd fear.
Kathy Shader, described as a “certified laugh coach,” taught a community college course on laughter's benefits. "Laughter," says Shader, "is an amazing resource that relieves stress, cuts tension, and imparts other healthful benefits." She began each hourlong class with a series of breathing exercises that prepare the students for giggle therapy.
After the breathing calisthenics, Shader led the class through laughing exercises that quickly devolved into pure silliness. She did not include jokes, one-liners, puns, or gags. Instead, Shader asked the students to clasp hands in a double handshake while emitting ho ho ha ha and he he sounds. That followed high-fives and the Alo-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha chant.
One student said she felt exhausted from laughing. Another said he and his wife had a key advantage over their classmates: “We’re silly all the time.” A third student said she aspired to be a certified laugh coach too.
