“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” ― Maya Angelou
How do we define an "untold story"? Is it one we have not taken time to tell? Does it involve frustrations or circumstances difficult to collect words around, in and through? Why has it eluded teliing again and again? Does the mystery of it rising to the surface stop the discovery of its potential?
Consider an untold story as one that needs expression in a different persona, a new venue, or from an altered perspective. Tell it from another point of view. Write the story from the ending to the initiating incident.
Creative Write: Begin by mining the story in a freewrite. Write it again in three ways. Tell it from an animal's point of view.
Can you sing a tune without the words? Sing it again with phrases added.
Write your untold story.
